Summer Reflections

Have you ever wondered how to work with difficult students without losing your attention to the rest of the group? This issue was in the top 3 most frequent frustration as a "specials" teacher. Although my room looked like a classroom, it did not have the same behavior management tools that classroom teachers used. As a result, there is a need for specialized intervention that works with the uniqueness of your schedule. To fill this need, I have come up with the following so far...
  • Resting Chair Manipulatives
  • Parent Reflection Paper
  • Student Reflection Paper
  • Teacher Behavior Incident Chart
  • Student Sticker Chart
  • Providing Individual Interaction throughout Whole-Class Instruction
  • Individual Rewards for Individual Achievement
I hope to discover more strategies for managing difficult students in the classroom music context. Do you have one that is missing from the list? Share your solutions in the comment section. Thanks!
